Three months old!

The boys are three months old today and cuter then ever! They're smiling, lifting their heads well, and loving life. They like to stick their tongue at you and smile when you return the gesture. They love when dad comes home and impatiently wait their turn to be in his arms. The boys have magical powers to rock their daddy to sleep. They also love music and hearing you sing. And, they are sleeping 4-5 hours at night! Woohoo says mommy!

I went back to work last week. It was really hard, just like everyone said it would be. I cried and cried, which is apparently pretty normal. I'm really grateful I can work part time and still only be away 2 nights a week. And I'm oh so GRATEFUL to my amazing mom who comes over and let's me sleep, to Bryce who works the night shift without a complaint, and my wonderful mother in law who sleeps over to help Bryce. Thank you thank you! I know the boys have really enjoyed the extra time with dad and grandmas.

You are Loved Project

This project was so much fun to put together! Bryce is a very busy, very dedicated husband, father, and friend. He is currently working full time, going to college full time, new daddy of twins on the night watch while mom goes back to work, getting ready to graduate, looking for an accounting internship, posssibly starting a new job soon, and the list goes on! With all of that in his life, I wanted him to know how many people loved him and were cheering him on. I sent out a quick message for letters and got a 100% response! I have 4 weeks of letters for him to open one a day. Thank you everyone!

I know Bryce has really loved it. His exact words were "I didn't know I had 24 people who loved me" Haha... And "can I open them all now?!". If any of you would like to add to the project, all of these spots are claimed or filled but I would LOVE to add another row! Just send me an email or message via Facebook and I'll print it out and put it up for Bryce.

A new discovery!

I discovered an AWESOME website called Once a Month Mom. It's a site that does monthly freezer menus that you cook one day a month(makes sense, huh?). They provide the recipe cards, grocery list, step by step instructions for your cooking day, and labels to put on the meals. Best of all, it's free! They have a new menu each month in different categories such as traditional, whole foods, diet, gluten/dairy free, and even a baby menu. It took me more than one day to put them all together because of the twins, and it's been well worth it! We get a real meal each day without any work. This meal we had yesterday was peach-glazed pork chops... Yum! And it took me a total of ten minutes to whip this together. I love "fast" food.

Update on the twins

I'm sorry there hasn't been an update on how the boys are doing since we've come home. It all happened so fast! The just woke up one day and decided they wanted to eat, we came home, and then they never stopped eating for me to blog.

Our first weeks home were quite a trial for me. Other mom's tell you it will be busy and that you won't sleep... But I never understood that you are BUSY and you DON'T sleep. Because of their size and the fact they have reflux, they wanted to eat every 2 hours. Since it took me 1 1/2 hrs to feed them... Well, you get the general idea.

We've had some really fun family moments. The boys love spitting up on their dad as soon as they enter his arms. We got him this super cool apron for burping time now to keep him safe. Funny thing is, during this picture Oliver turned his head and spit up right underneath the apron.

The boys finally met their due date on august 9th! We told Bridger he could hold them once they got that old so he came by unannounced with cupcakes and birthday hats to celebrate! He was so excited.

Thank you to our families who have come over to give bottles and give us a bit of a breather. It was nice to get a bit of sleep each day and go on a date. You have helped preserve my sanity.

Yesterday I was finally able to get the boys nursing at the same time!!! I then learned, thanks to google, to flip then over on my super cool twin nursing pillow and burp them like bongo drums. It has been great having hours of my day back and not feeling like a milk machine.

We think our boys just might be identical. What do you think? They look more alike everyday. Even we mix them up sometimes.

Lightning Storm

I think everyone was impressed by the lightning storm we had last night. I just had to bust out my camera and open my front door in my sleepwear and take a few shots. I became quite damp. Here's the result.

Oliver and Liam had their 1st photo shoot today in our kitchen. My mom was an awesome lighting assistant. I have yet to edit them all, but these are the two I thought deserved to be posted immediately.

Week 4

Short and sweet update this week. Mostly, the boys still growing and learning to eat. They're doing a little better each day. They are now eating between 4-6 times each day which is so great! We're between step 2 and step 3. Jenn is now living at the hospital for real. The hospital offers a program that she can stay in a patient room so she's readily available. We're just working on being patient and loving every moment we have with them. We're also so glad that all the staff think they're boring, meaning free of any complications. Just growing!

Week 3

The boys have been working really hard this week. They finally know when it's time to eat and wake up acting hungry. This is a big step! We've also begun to seriously introduce nursing. They have to go through a 4 step process with eating before they go home and this week we entered step two, which is eating 4 times a day every six hours and they're doing great! Mom is spending most her day and night at their side. In between cares and feedings she runs to grandma's for a quick nap or bite to eat.

Dad spent a lot of time studying this week. The boys were a big help. I think this may be a reoccurring trend while Bryce finishes school. Night time stories of the dashingly handsome, dragon slaying accountant!... I mean, prince!

Another exciting occurrnce this week, the boys got to snuggle with their grandparents! We have such proud grandma's and grandpa's who can hardly wait for the fishing trips, wrestling matches, and cooking lessons.
